Dad's pick-me-up

This isn't exactly a fun time of year for me(which is why this is getting posted at 2 A.M.), but Lish sent me this last night and definitely made my day.

(WARNING: You might just want to turn up the volume. I'm pretty sure the first part of this video gave me Vertigo)

I have tried to get that word out of her since she popped out, and somehow incorporated "dada" into the chorus of every song she has ever heard from me. She smartly started out saying "momma" first, but I'm very glad she's expanding that vocabulary.

I was able to get out of the office Saturday afternoon, and spend the rest of the weekend with her while Lish tried to get over whatever germs Hensley passed along. It was undoubtedly the best weekend I've had in a long time.

Bye Bye Birdie

So...let me tell you about how I went insane this morning. I love to sleep and so when Hensley is sleeping peacefully (as am I) and something disrupts it, I go all exorcist mom. Head spinning and all.
So we have these birds. I actually thought it would be sweet for Hensley to watch them in the nest right next to our front window, but now it's getting a bit obnoxious. They gather like a bird gang and make horrible noises like a repeating, high pitched car alarm. It started around 6 and I heard them through the baby monitor loud and clear. There was no way she could sleep through it, so when she woke up, angry for good reason with our new bird friends, I completely lost it. I'm not by definition a "morning person". I got out of bed grumbling, trying to get Jon to be mad with me (which he sympathetically slept through), got a broom and went outside in my pajamas and started swatting in the air at the birds. I made sure there were no babies in our nest and then swatted that out of the tree, and then stood on my doorstep and waited. I'm embarrassed now that my neighbors probably saw me, but the birds went away and I didn't hear anything for another 5ish minutes. Then they came back with a vengeance. Think Alfred Hitchcock. Now I'm sitting up plotting for tomorrow.

P.S. I did have a better day after caffeine. Hensley had her play group today and we had a BLAST! Just what a grumpy lady needed to turn her day around! :)
