Eight Months Old

One of my (many) resolutions this year is to be better about blogging, but have a feeling I will be more successful cutting sugar than posting! Eek!

Notice how there is only two pictures of Miss Hensley this month. That is because she cannot sit still long enough for a picture and her tongue is always sticking out! On December 19th (her actual 8 month birthday) she was not crawling yet, then by Christmas she could move 5 little crawls and currently we have to actively watch her or she is GONE! I took this picture after Christmas when Hensley got this adorable little outfit from Diane Massey (Aimee's mother-in-law that spoils us like family too!) and it was hard enough to get two pictures, so I'm kind of dreading the 9 month picture now that she is so active. The week before Christmas her two bottom teeth popped out, wreaking havoc on her wonderful sleeping patterns, but they are absolutely adorable!
He! He! They are so bitty!!
She was not digging picture time, so we took off her pants and her bow and she was much better.
So, the big news from month 8 would be crawling and teeth. She is still eating lots of baby food, but definitely has an opinion about what she prefers. We have to mix some kind of fruit with her veggies or she will stubbornly roll them off her tongue! She still hums while she eats, but you also have to watch for her spitting when she wants to talk/scream. I say talk/scream because I made a huge mistake one day when Hensley was trying out her vocal cords screaming (in the girliest note EVER) and I mimicked her noise and she thought that was the best game! Now, she just squeals and looks at you like "don't you hear me?!" or she will just squeal because it's a Monday and she feels like it. :)
As far as talking goes, since saying "dada" once and "mamama" a good couple of times, she hasn't really wanted to talk. She works on her "p" sound often, so that makes Jon and I so nervous that her first word will be puppy. We will be heartbroken, but she is pretty obsessed with him! He used to run away from her, but has now gotten lazy and will just let her pull his ears, tail and paws. She wants to give him kisses, and now that she is eating food he wants to kiss her, so Mom had to step in and block the slobber-swapping. That's just gross.
Funny moment for month 8: Jon is feeding her and he has worked for months now on not letting her be a complete mess of food, but he is just not blessed will that skill. Maybe it is because he is left handed, but she leaves meal time with food all over her face, in her hair and up her nose. So, one night, Jon was so proud of himself because she was fairly clean. Then, she decided it was playtime and blew one big slobber and food went EVERYWHERE! All over her, Jon, the ceiling, walls and the unsuspecting Bruce. The best part was Jon just stared at her in shock and she giggled! That little squirt knew what she did and it was the best noise hearing them both giggling. Love my family!
Sweet moment: Thanks to her new teeth and traveling, all of our sleep training is out the window. Boo. So, I end up at some point in the night/early morning, putting her in bed with me and sleeping together. I always said I would never sleep with my baby because it is scary, but Mama's gotta do what she's gotta do. One night I put her in bed with me and when she woke up from a deep sleep in the morning, she rolled over to my face until our noses were almost touching, and put her hand on my face and smiled the sweetest smile. She is so snuggly, and sometimes I am tired and frustrated when she won't sleep in her crib, but I would love sleep every night if I got to wake up that way. Soon after we had that moment she used those new teeth to bite my nose, so the moment didn't last long, but it was amazing while it lasted!
